Boarding Life

Dormitories

Shared living, honest supervision, and room to become yourself.

Dormitory exterior hero

Ask an old Peterite what they remember and the dormitory usually comes first — the friendships, the routines, the small daily negotiations of shared life. A good dormitory teaches what no classroom can: organising your own belongings, respecting privacy, following a rhythm, and looking out for the person in the next bed. Those lessons only land, though, when supervision is consistent and expectations are clear. Here is how ours works.

How dormitory life is organised

  • Age- and class-appropriate placement, so juniors live among peers, not overwhelmed by seniors.
  • Separate residential arrangements as required by school policy.
  • A named adult in charge of every dormitory, with clear night-duty cover.
  • Scheduled wake-up, preparation, study, recreation and lights-out.
  • Proper storage for clothing and personal belongings.
  • Cleaning, laundry and hygiene expectations that build lifelong habits.
  • A confidential route for any student to raise a concern or ask for support.
  • Ready access to outdoor and common recreation spaces — this is a hill campus, and we use it.

What parents ask most

Every dormitory has a named adult in charge with defined night-duty cover. Supervision arrangements are explained in detail during your campus visit.

Through the school’s published communication schedule and channels — see the Parent Communication page for how contact works in practice.

A current clothing and belongings list is issued with the offer of admission, so nothing is bought twice or forgotten.
