Everything your child will ever do in a classroom rests on what happens in these five years. Reading with understanding. Feeling at home with numbers. Asking “why?” and expecting a real answer. At St. Peter’s, the primary years are built deliberately — not as a waiting room for “serious” school, but as the most important stage of all.

How children learn here
Young children learn by doing, talking and trying again — so lessons blend explicit teaching with conversation, reading aloud, observation, practical activity and guided practice. New ideas are anchored to familiar experience, and independence is built gradually: a Class V child at St. Peter’s can organise their work, explain their thinking, and persist when something is hard.
- Language through reading, speaking, listening, writing — and stories worth remembering.
- Numeracy through concept-building, mental strategies, written methods and real problems.
- Science through observation of a campus that doubles as a nature classroom.
- Art, music and daily physical activity, because childhood needs all three.
Age criteria are published on the Eligibility page and confirmed by Admissions for each academic year. Meeting the minimum age does not by itself guarantee a place.
Boarding eligibility by class is confirmed at enquiry. LKG and UKG are currently for day scholars; residential availability for higher classes is published in Admissions.
